The 2015 Discover Great New Writers Awards Finalists

The booksellers who sit on our Discover Great New Writers program selection committee have a very specific mandate: find the best and the brightest, the unforgettable storytelling and indelible characters, from new writers. Each year those booksellers chose 45-60 books to present to readers across the country; from those selections, two panels of distinguished authors pick the six titles they feel best represent the Discover Great New Program’s mission. This year our judges are: Eleanor Brown, Ben Fountain, and Thrity Umrigar reading fiction, and Scott Anderson, Candice Millard, and Cheryl Strayed reading nonfiction.

Nonfiction finalists:

Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family by Amy Ellis Nutt
Bettyville by George Hodgman
Ghettoside: A True Story of Murder in America by Jill Leovy
